The spectre of a reorganization of our healthcare system concocted by Minister Barrette being rushed through has led to a vast outcry. In that context, your Federation has decided to give you the floor.

Wellness capsule of the month - Our Bulletin on suicide prevention


This month, there is just one message. Keep an eye out for the mail, and read the Bulletin prepared by members of the Resident Wellness Committee on suicide prevention, entitled: Suicide: not a solution. Even if you don’t feel the need, reading this special issue could help you save the life of a colleague, friend or relative.


14th Medical Resident Day – Friday, May 22, 2015

Friday, May 22, 2015 will mark the 14th Medical Resident Day. On the program are afternoon talks, a stand-up dinner, presentation of the Excelsior Awards, and an evening comedy show. Note that the pager contest is back again this year. Mark this date in your diary immediately. You will be receiving more information on the Day in the coming weeks.

Symposium on PREMs in Family Medicine – Friday, May 22, 2015

All R1s in family medicine will be happy to learn that the FMRQ has decided to hold the two events—Medical Resident Day and the Symposium on PREMs in Family Medicine—the same day, Friday, May 22, 2015. This clearly facilitates leave applications for the majority of medical residents. The event will be held as usual in the afternoon, and will include a talk and a stand-up dinner. FM residents will then be invited to join their colleagues for the presentation of the 2015 Excelsior Awards and the comedy evening.

Excelsior Awards - Register now

Ever higher, ever farther

The Fédération des médecins résidents du Québec is today launching the nomination process for the 2015 Excelsior Awards, to underscore medical residents’ involvement in their workplace and training environment. The jury will give preference to projects that have an impact on nominees’ own community and the medical community, and those offering the prospect of enhancing medical residents’ health and wellness.

Medical Services Day 2015 – March 13, 2015, Trois-Rivières - Association des centres de réadaptation en dépendance du Québec

Quebec’s association of addiction rehabilitation centres (ARCs), the Association des centres de réadaptation en dépendance du Québec, will be holding its second Medical Services Day on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Delta Hotel, Trois-Rivières, for doctors and nurses working in ARCs, and physicians interested in the treatment of people struggling with alcohol, drug or compulsive gambling problems.

Collège des médecins du Québec - Restrictive permit–resident abolished since December 12, 2014

In December 2014, the Collège des médecins du Québec eliminated the restrictive permit–resident that had been granted since 2008 to residents approaching the end of their training. The FMRQ had learned last fall of the Collège’s intention to eliminate this permit.
