Consensual approach
➔ If you’re in a position to do so, talk with the person bothering you, let them know you’re uncomfortable, and ask them to cease their disruptive conduct. They may alter their behaviour. In some cases, this first step is all it takes to stop the inappropriate behaviour, and no further action is required. But if the inappropriate behaviour continues, the fact that you’ve mentioned your discomfort to the person concerned will mean they can’t claim they didn’t know it bothered you.
➔ Ask for a meeting with the faculty authorities, without making a formal complaint, but with a view to having the harassment stopped, by proposing mediation, for instance.
➔ Mention the situation on your evaluation sheet (check whether or not the assessment is anonymous).
